I 've grown up in the Boston area and never went to the Vineyard. Thanks to Al and her folks, I'm experiencing it while living on a boat. Ahoy Matey!!! The Ungers have been going to the Vineyard every Summer so I will have excellent tour guides.
I'll fall asleep in my bunk by the rocking of the boat, aaaah.
We will rent bikes and eat yummy summer food and have adventures and swim and make friends and turn into burnt cookies. I remember when I was a teenager and stayed a weekend on the boat; one morning I woke up at dawn and wrote a poem about the sky and sea :)
Any suggestions on where to go?

ReplyDeleteWhen did you spend a night at sea? I am so happy for you that you are going to Martha's Vineyard. I spent one day there (only one) with my friend Linda. We took the ferry from Hyannis, rented bikes and rode to Edgartown from Vineyard Haven. It was great although I did fall off my bike once! Into a thorny bush at the side of the rode. Linda said (I'll never forget this) "Oh, Janny fell into the bramble bushes!"
ReplyDeleteI love the Ungers for taking you along. . . they are so good. . . such great friends. I wish I could reciprocate and do something equally great for Alex. I hope that will happen. So glad you are doing this blog, Petunia.
